Melbourne Tullamarine Airport pax up 5%, int'l pax up 12% in Sep-2013 quarter; North Asia key growth

Australia's Melbourne Tullamarine Airport reported (18-Oct-2013) a 5% year-on-year increase in passengers to 7.9 million for the quarter ended 30-Sep-2013, driven by a 12% increase in international passengers to 1.9 million. Airport CEO Chris Woodruff said North Asia was the key growth region for the quarter, but added "we need to continue to support this growth by ensuring there is sufficient capacity in our bilateral air service agreements." Domestic passengers increased 4% to 5.9 million. For the month of Sep-2013, Melbourne Airport recorded an 8% increase in international passengers to 635,111 while domestic passengers increased 0.1% to 1.9 million for a total of 2.5 million passengers for the month.
