Malev could break even within three years: government

Hungary's Commissioner in Charge of Air Travel, Attila Márton, stated Malév could break even at an operating level in two to three years but added this would only occur after an evaluation of the airline's position due 20-Jul-2010 (MTI, 12-Jul-2010). Mr Márton added said the carrier had no plans to involve a private investor in its restructure. The carrier was renationalised in Feb-2010 through a HUB25.4 billion (EUR115 million) capital raising by the Hungarian Government. Mr Márton added that the carrier owes Vnesheconombank (VEB) EUR102 million.
