Malaysia Airlines seeking more A330s
Malaysia Airlines CEO Peter Bellew, speaking at the CAPA Fleet & Finance Summit, said (03-Mar-2017) the airline does not have enough A330 aircraft. Mr Bellew noted a lack of airport slots in Asia and said the carrier is seeking to better use slots by upgauging from Boeing 737 to A330 aircraft. The carrier hopes to acquire four A330 aircraft in late 2017 or 2018 and another four in 2019. Mr Bellew noted the price of second hand leased aircraft is dropping and reported a lot of available aircraft since Aug-2016. Mr Bellew said "many big airlines" are "quietly trying to shift aircraft".
