Malaysia Airlines orders 25 737 MAX 8s with up to 25 options

Malaysia Airlines announced (27-Jul-2016) an order for 25 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, including purchase rights for up to 25 additional 737 MAX 8s and 737 MAX 9s. Deliveries will commence in 2019. The order was previously attributed to an unidentified customer. The firm order is valued at USD2.75 billion at list prices. Malaysia Airlines CEO Peter Bellew said the lower costs and improved efficiency of the aircraft will allow the airline to reduce fares. Mr Bellew said, "With the 737 MAX's longer range capabilities, we will be able to connect our passengers to more destinations, in greater comfort and with superior economics."
