Mackay Airport in strategic 'sweet spot', seeking service to Gold Coast

Australia's Mackay Airport GM Robert Porter, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, stated (09-Aug-2013) the airport is in a strategic "sweet spot" with its central location on the Queensland coast and access to mining markets. Mr Porter said a route to Gold Coast is currently its top priority and it is also considering a service to Newcastle. Mr Porter said business travellers currently comprise 43% of its total traffic.
