The airport previously opened a second runway after a BRL220 million investment from Zurich Airport Brasil, enabling it to accommodate larger aircraft1. Zurich Airport Brasil also made similar renewable energy investments at other airports, such as Natal Aluízio Alves International Airport, where a solar facility is expected to open in 2026 and provide all of the airport's energy requirements2.
