Lufthansa warns of Chinese backlash from inclusion of aviation in EU ETS

Lufthansa CEO Christoph Franz cautioned that the Chinese government could mount "countermeasures" to the unilateral inclusion of airlines in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (DW-World, 25-May-2011). Mr Franz also said the scheme will place European airlines at a competitive disadvantage. Lufthansa expects the system will add "several hundred million" euros to its costs.
