Lufthansa expects industry losses to exceed USD9 billion in 2009

Lufthansa Chief Officer Group Airlines & Corporate Human Resources, Stefan Lauer, forecasts international airline losses for 2009 would exceed the USD9 billion forecast by IATA, as the industry has seen no improvement in conditions (Bloomberg, 03-Sep-2009). IATA recently reported USD6 billion in losses for 1H2009, based on a sample of 50 major carriers.
