London Gatwick launched the 14-week consultation to reintroduce satellite-based navigation on Route four as part of an Airspace Change Proposal, after the technology was withdrawn in 2019 following regulatory and legal challenges.1 Gatwick said reintroduction was essential as conventional ground-based navigation infrastructure was being phased out under the national airspace modernisation programme, and all other Gatwick arrival and main runway departure routes had adopted the procedures.1
