KLM takes delivery of its first E175
KLM Cityhopper announced (21-Mar-2016) it took delivery of its first Embraer E175, the first of 17 that will join the carrier. All aircraft are due to be delivered by 2018. Alongside its 30 E190s already in service, the carrier will have the largest Embraer fleet in Europe once deliveries are completed. As the E175s arrive, KLM Cityhopper will start the phase-out of its Fokker 70 aircraft, with all aircraft to leave the fleet by 2018. According to KLM, the E175 is 18% more fuel efficient than the Fokker 70s it replaces and the introduction of the aircraft is in line with its plans to cut CO2 emissions by 20% by 2020.
