Kenya Airways staff to strike following failure to resolve pay dispute

Kenya Aviation and Allied Workers Union (AAWU) issued (05-Oct-2010) a notice for the commence of industrial action on 13-Oct-2010 following the failure of talks to resolve a pay dispute with Kenya Airways (Reuters/ibtimes.com/next, 06-Oct-2010). Approximately 5,000 members of the union could take part in the strike, including those who work for other carriers to demand Kenya Airways management honour the 'Return to Work Formula' signed on 25-Aug-2009. The carrier recntly rejected new pay demands from the workers' union recently that would cost USD4 million (KES325 million) shillings more than agreed in a deal with AAWU in Apr-2010 to increase salaries.
