Background ✨
Kitakyushu Airport began runway extension works from 2500m to 3000m on 02-Dec-2023, aiming to support larger aircraft for long-haul international and freight services1. The project is expected to be completed by Aug-2027 and requires an estimated JPY13 billion investment1. Fukuoka Prefecture and Kitakyushu City have allocated funds to develop the airport as an international logistics hub, capitalising on its 24-hour operations2.
