Jetstar attributes strong RASK growth to underlying demand, movement away from Virgin Australia

Jetstar Group CEO Jayne Hrdlicka, speaking on the release of its 1HFY2016 results, said (23-Feb-2016) the strong 10% RASK growth of Jetstar Airways was accompanied by 6% growth in ancillaries. Ms Hrdlicka attributed the increases both to strong underlying demand, as well as a continuing movement of low-fares customers away from Virgin Australia. Ms Hrdlicka noted: "The low AUD sees Australians spend more time travelling domestically and inbound to Australia, we're seeing that on our long-haul services so our strong RASK growth is showing both those factors."
