Jet2.com CEO comments on entry into London Gatwick, importance of business model flexibility
Jet2.com CEO Steve Heapy, speaking to CAPA TV at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit World 2025, commented (12-Dec-2025) on the carrier's plans to launch base operations at London Gatwick Airport from Mar-2026, stating: "We're starting a long way behind in terms of our sales curve. It's gone on sale over a year later than our other bases, so you have to make an investment to get established and fill the aircraft in the first couple of years". Mr Heapy also commented on the flexibility of the company's business model, stating: "The strength of our model is we can turn the 'flights only' tap on or turn the tap up on holidays depending on what the demand is and on which side for customers. I think it's important to offer both sides of products and to have a flexible model. To have a [balance] target set in stone would probably be the wrong thing to do". [more - CAPA TV]
