Japan Airlines reports 6% operating profit increase in 2QFY2012, raises full-year guidance

Japan Airlines revenue up 6% – financial highlights for three months ended 30-Sep-2012:

  • Total operating revenue: JPY634,200 million (USD7988 million), +5.7% year-on-year;
    • Passenger:
      • Domestic: JPY250,400 million (USD3154 million), +2.9%;
      • International: JPY210,300 million (USD2649 million), +10.2%;
  • Total operating costs: JPY522,000 million (USD6575 million), +5.7%;
  • Operating profit: JPY112,100 million (USD1412 million), +5.7%;
  • Net profit: JPY99,700 million (USD1256 million), +2.4%;
  • Passenger numbers: 19.0 million, +9.3%;
    • Domestic: 15.2 million, +7.4%;
    • International: 3.8 million, +17.7%;
  • Passenger load factor: 70.0%, +4.4 ppts;
    • Domestic: 62.6%, +0.1 ppt;
    • International: 76.2%, +8.2 ppts;
  • Total assets: JPY1147 billion (USD14.5 million), +5.5% when compared to period ended 31-Mar-2012;
  • Net assets: JPY497.6 billion (USD6.3 billion), +20.3% when compared to period ended 31-Mar-2012;
  • FY2012 forecast:
    • Operating revenue: JPY1215 billion (USD15,304 million), -0.4% when compared to previous guidance;
