Japan Airlines reports 12% operating profit growth in Q1FY2018

Japan Airlines reported (31-Jul-2017) the following financial highlights for three months ended 30-Jun-2017:

  • Operating costs: JPY290.0 billion (USD2610 million), +5.4%;
    • Labour: JPY70.5 billion (USD634.6 million), +4.4%;
    • Fuel: JPY50.3 billion (USD452.8 million), +1.9%;
  • Operating profit: JPY24.7 billion (USD222.3 million), +12.0%;
  • Net profit: JPY19.5 billion (USD175.5 million), +32.9%;
  • Passengers: 10.1 million, +6.2%;
    • International: 2.0 million, -0.7%;
    • Domestic: 8.1 million, +8.1%;
  • Passenger load factor: 75.3%, +3.0ppts;
    • International: 80.2%, +1.9ppt;
    • Domestic: 68.3%, +4.6ppts;
  • Cargo and mail: 696,899 tons, +19.4%;
