Istanbul to get third airport
Turkey's Transportation Minister Mehmet Habib Soluk announced that excavated earth from Kanal Istanbul will be used in the construction of a planned third airport in Istanbul (Today's Zaman, 05-May-2011). "This airport will have the capacity of handling 60 million passengers a year," Mr Soluk said. "We expect completion of the project could take eight to 10 years and that it will create around 200,000 jobs during the construction phase."
