A mid-term review of the Regional Airports Programme 2021-2025 flagged potential phased step-down supports for airports forecasting traffic above one million passengers and explored broadening eligibility beyond one million passengers, alongside a new Regional State Airports Sustainability Programme for Cork and Shannon.1 Ryanair publicly urged Minister Darragh O’Brien to lift the programme cap to three million passengers for 2026-2030.2 Shannon Airport Group also lobbied for Shannon’s inclusion in the next programme.3
