International arrivals to Australia to rise just 0.4% in 2011, departures to rise 9.2%: TFC

Australia's Tourism Forecasting Committee (TFC) released (06-Oct-2011) its revised tourism forecast to 2020. In 2011, the revised forecast expects:

  • Tourism consumption to decline 0.3% (previously 0.4% growth, -0.7 ppt);
  • International arrivals to grow 0.4% (previously 3.1% growth; -2.7 ppts);
  • International departures to grow 9.2% (previously 10.1% growth; -0.9 ppt);
  • Domestic nights to decline 0.3% (similar to previous forecast);
  • International arrivals forecast:
    • 2011: 5.9 million, +0.4% year-on-year;
    • 2012: 6.1 million, +2.7%;
    • 2013: 6.3 million, +4%;
    • 2014: 6.6 million, +4.4%;
    • 2015: 6.8 million, +3.9%;
    • 2016: 7.1 million, +3.6%;
    • 2017: 7.3 million, +3.5%;
    • 2018: 7.6 million, +3.3%;
    • 2019: 7.8 million, +3.2%;
