Background ✨

Visit US Coalition reported the 01-Oct-2025 to 12-Nov-2025 US government shutdown generated USD6.1 billion in travel-sector economic losses, with an average 88,000 fewer trips per day.1 Airports Council International - North America president and CEO Kevin Burke said the shutdown created uncertainty and operational disruption for airports, federal employees and travellers, while thanking FAA, TSA and CBP staff who continued working.2 TSA also planned to expand its PreCheck Touchless ID facial-recognition lanes to 50 additional airports in 2026, from 15 airports.3
