Air Austral previously resumed Réunion-Chennai service with A220-300 equipment on 06-May-2022, with Chennai International Airport noting it as among the longest A220-300 routes.1 Air Austral later planned to suspend the service after it did not receive authorisations for the IATA summer season (27-Mar-2023 to 29-Oct-2023), and instead offered twice weekly connections via Bangkok under a commercial agreement with Thai Airways.2
