Indian Civil Aviation Minister seeking urgent release of government funds to Air India

Indian Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, stated he would request the Group of Ministers (meeting today to discuss Air India and the civil aviation sector) to immediately release funds for the national carrier, as recommended recently by the Committee of Secretaries.

Indian Government: "We would like to see what the government is doing for restructuring of Air India. I will take up the matter for immediate infusion of funds in Air India at the earliest before the GoM. The government's support is there. The [employees of Air India] are no doubt the strength of Air India but they also have to understand that without cost-cutting and restructuring of the carrier we cannot ask for help", Praful Patel.
