Icelandair Group to grow international network in 2014, expects over 2.6m international pax in 2014
Icelandair Group announced (03-Sep-2013) plans to expand its international network in 2014 with the launch of the following routes:
- Reykjavik-Edmonton: Four times weekly service from 26-Mar-2014 to Jan-2015;
- Reykjavik-Vancouver: Twice weekly service from 13-May-2014 to 12-Oct-2014;
- Reykjavik-Geneva: Twice weekly service from 24-May-2014 to 23-Sep-2014.
Icelandair said it expects to carry over 2.6 million passengers on its international network in 2014 compared to its expected international passenger traffic of 2.3 million in 2013. The airline will operate direct services to 38 destinations and will add three Boeing 757 aircraft to its fleet. Edmonton International Airport president and CEO Reg Milley welcomed Icelandair's planned Edmonton service, stating it will significantly reduce travel times for passengers travelling from Edmonton to European destinations.
