IATA: High consumer confidence supporting airfreight demand

IATA stated (21-Apr-2017) the upward trend in airfreight volumes "over the past nine months or so" was set against a broad and synchronised upturn in global economic conditions, with consumer confidence rising particularly strongly. Consumer confidence for major advanced and emerging market economies rose every month since May-2016 and climbed above the long-run average level at the end of 2016. Consumer confidence is now at its highest level in nearly 10 years, translating to higher consumer spending and supporting demand for airfreighted goods. Along with positive signs from business surveys, this suggests support for airfreight growth in 2Q2017. [more - original PR]
