IATA: Nth American carriers to lead global profitability in 2017

IATA reported (08-Dec-2016) it expects North American carriers will achieve the strongest financial performance of any region in 2017. Recent consolidation continues to underpin the region's strong profitability, even as the region faces upwards cost pressures which include the price of fuel. Regional forecast highlights include:

• Net post-tax profits: USD18.1 billion, -10.8% year-on-year;
• Net margin: 8.5%. This is also expected to be the strongest for any region globally;

• ASKs: +2.6%;
