The Irish Aviation Authority's decision follows a High Court judgment that temporarily halted the enforcement of a 32 million passenger cap at Dublin Airport, pending further legal proceedings1. This comes amid efforts to increase the cap to 36 million and eventually to 40 million passengers per annum2 3. Dublin Airport exceeded the cap in 2024, handling 34.6 million passengers4. The airport is a dominant player in Ireland's aviation market, accounting for 84% of scheduled seats in 20243.
