Hong Kong International Airport to construct third runway

China's Hong Kong Airport Authority plans to construct a third runway at Hong Kong International Airport as part of its "Airport Master Plan 2030 Study" expected to be completed by the end of 2010. It will be located approximately 1km from the current northern runway (CNTV/The Standard, 21/22-Sep-2010). A technical feasibility study has been completed. Public consultations will be launched to seek general consensus before construction, as the project will involve reclaiming land. Construction is expected to take 10 to 12 years.
