Hong Kong International Airport announces Oct-2011 traffic up 5.6%

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) announced the following traffic highlights in Oct-2011:

  • Passenger numbers: 4,616,000, +5.6%;
  • Air cargo: 342,000, -8.3%;
  • Aircraft movements: 28,545, +5.0%.

Airport Authority Hong Kong: "While HKIA's cargo performance is consistent with the worldwide negative growth trend, I'm pleased to see passenger volume and aircraft movements continue to rise. In view of the strong Chinese Mainland economy, particularly its growing aviation industry and surging inbound visitors this year, I am confident that our steady performance in passengers and aircraft movements will continue through the end of the year," Stanley Hui Hon-chung, CEO.
