Gulf carriers have driven 'extraordinary change' in Australia market

Aviation and Tourism Marketing specialist Peter Hoslin, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, stated (05-Aug-2016) the Gulf carriers have driven an "extraordinary change in Australian aviation". He said the strength of the Gulf carriers stems from their "amazing" location in the world, noting that the airlines in this market have built up to their current position with "phenomenal success". He noted that the core Gulf countries have been fortunate enough to be able to invest in their airline and aviation facilities, with their airlines having the "vision to take on every single opportunity that they can". This has been supported by an "extraordinary" product, with investment at airports and on their aircraft. He said this has had a "big impact" on Australia and "changed the dynamics of the carriers" in the markets. Mr Hoslin noted that existing carriers in the Australia market have adapted to this situation and are "still prospering". From an airport perspective, he noted that the Gulf has generated new traffic elements and have "driven a lot of success down to Australia." He also noted that this diversity in the airline customer is a key aspect of the sustainability of airports and has enabled airports to widen their customer flows and customer base.
