Greek Government issues tender for new international airport in Kastelli

Greece's Ministry of Environment, Town Planning and Public Works issued a tender for the development and construction of a new international airport in Kastelli (Transport Journal, 28-Sep-2009). The airport project is expected to cost up to EUR1 billion, of which EUR220 million will be funded by the Greek Government, which will hold a 55% majority stake. The proposed airport is expected to commence operations in 2015 and operated under a 35-year lease, including the construction period. The airport will include a 3,800 m runway.
