French Civil Aviation Authority expecting further flight cancellations over ATC strike

France DGAC (Civil Aviation Authority) expects further flight cancellations for the fourth day of strike action by French air traffic controllers (AFP, 25-Feb-2010). 50% of services from Paris Orly Airport were cancelled on 25-Feb-2010, while only 15% of services were cancelled at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, an improvement from 25% of flights on the first two days of the strike. The same levels are expected for 25-Feb-2010. Marseille and Nice airports were also forced to cancel some flights yesterday due to the strike. The controllers vowed to continue the strike after negotiations on Wednesday (24-Feb-2010), until they receive adequate assurances over future employment and status as civil servants (Reuters, 25-Feb-2010). French Government stated it remains hopeful of a swift ending to the dispute.
