Fraport, VINCI and Flughafen Zurich win contracts to operate four airports in Brazil
Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) announced (16-Mar-2017) it awarded operating concessions for Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Florianopolis and Salvador.
- ANAC auctioned the four airports for the combined price of BRL1.46 billion (USD468 million), raising BRL3.7 billion (USD1.2 billion);
- Fraport will operate Porto Alegre and Fortaleza, while VINCI will operate Salvador, and Flughafen Zurich will operate Florianopolis;
- All of the concessions are on a 30 year basis, while Porto Alegre will be contracted for 25 years.
- Fraport made the highest premium offer with BRL290.5 million (USD93 million), while VINCI made the second highest premium for Salvador with BRL660.9 million (USD212 million), Flughafen Zurich made an offer of BRL83.3 million (USD27 million) for Florianopolis, and Fraport offered BRL425 million (USD136 million) for Fortaleza, a premium of 17.98%.
- The amounts raised in the auction will be paid in cash by the winners at the contract signing ceremony on 28-Jun-2017. The amount will go towards Brazil's National Civil Aviation Fund.
