Frankfurt Airport reports loss of 170,000 pax in Feb-2012 from GdF strike action

Germany's Fraport stated (12-Mar-2012) the strike conducted by the German union of air traffic controllers (GdF) in Feb-2012 resulted in the cancellation of almost 1700 flights at Frankfurt International Airport in Feb-2012 causing a loss of some 170,000 passengers. The airport handled approximately 3.6 million passengers in Feb-2012, a 0.7% year-on-year increase, although the airport commented "the negative impact of the strike far outweighed the positive effect on passenger traffic resulting from the extra day gained in February due to leap year".
