Fly Baghdad said US Treasury sanctions imposed in Jan-2024 led to the loss of eight leased aircraft, leaving it operating four owned aircraft and triggering more than 400 flight cancellations in Feb-2024.1 Iraq’s Central Bank reportedly froze Fly Baghdad’s accounts at three major banks following the US Treasury action.2 The European Commission also placed Fly Baghdad on the EU Air Safety List, banning it from operating in the EU due to EASA-identified safety concerns.3
