Finnair cancelling 70 flights due to industrial action in Finland

Finnair announced (25-Mar-2025) the cancellation of approximately 70 flights on 27-Mar-2025 due to industrial action in Finland. The strike, led by the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) and Finnish Transport Workers' Union (AKT), will disrupt operations at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, impacting customer service, baggage handling and ground services. Finnair previously experienced significant disruptions from multiple strikes. In February 2024, a political strike by employee unions led to approximately 550 flight cancellations, affecting around 60,000 customers1 2. Earlier, in December 2024, a strike by the Finnish Air Line Pilots' Association resulted in the cancellation of about 300 flights, impacting 33,000 passengers3. Additionally, an 'illegal' walkout by the Finnish Aviation Union in December 2024 caused further disruptions4.
