Farnborough: Airbus believes 'recession is definitely over'

Airbus CEO, John Leahy, said the "recession is definitely over" and confirmed the company would exceed its order target for 2010 after ending Farnborough with USD13 billion in firm orders (Reuters, 22-Jul-2010). Mr Leahy added that demand from leasing companies and a rebound in premium traffic also confirmed the outlook. EADS CEO, Tom Enders, added that the manufacturer would sell "north of 400" aircraft in 2010 compared with a previous target up to 300.

Airbus: "Ladies and gentlemen, the recession is definitely over ... Liquidity is back in the market, traffic is back in the market and GDP growth is back. It looks as though we have turned the corner and that is why we are seeing strong growth," John Leahy, CEO. Source: Reuters, 22-Jul-2010.
