Ethiopian Airlines FY2009 results exceed targets set out in its "Vision 2010"

Ethiopian Airlines CEO, Girma Wake, stated the airline's FY2009 results, with the exception of passenger numbers, have exceeded targets set in its "Vision 2010" in 2005, which aimed at increasing passenger numbers to three million, route network to 50 destinations with an operating revenue of USD949 million and an operating profit of USD92 million (Addis Fortune, 15-Mar-2010). The carrier reported the following financial/traffic highlights in FY2009:

• Operating revenue: USD1,100 million, +122% year-on-year;
• Operating profit: USD92 million, 92 million, +123%;
• Passenger numbers: 2.8 million, +12.3%.
