Embraer: More time needed to study market before new aircraft decision

Embraer Executive VP-Airline Market Paulo Cesar Silva stated the manufacturer still needs more time to study the market before it launches a new aircraft programme, but has suggested that enlarging the EJet family beyond the 120-seat point would "compromise the aircraft" (AINonline, 21-Jun-2011). Embraer is waiting on Boeing to make a decision on its narrowbody programme before it commits to a direction. A decision in 2012 could lead to a new aircraft after 2018.
