Egypt's aviation industry loses more than USD170m from unrest

Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry stated the country's airline industry has lost more than EGP1 billion (USD170 million) as a result of political unrest in the country (Associated Press, 15-Mar-2011). Over 60% of the losses were from EgyptAir, while the remainder came in losses at the country's various airports. More than 150,000 foreign tourists fled the country during the 18-day uprising that commenced on 25-Jan-2011.
