Egypt well positioned for economic recovery, two new carriers planned

IATA Chief Economist, Brian Pearce, stated Egypt is particularly well positioned to benefit from the economic recovery, commenting that Egypt has been "relatively robust" during the global recession (thedailynewsegypt, 27-Jul-2010). He added that growth in the airline sector has remained, with a 4% increase in scheduled departures in 2009, with further growth in the months ahead. While Egyptair is continuing on the growth trajectory, Al Misria Univeral Airlines launched service in late 2009, and two new carriers, Nile Air and Nesma Airlines, plan to launch services in the near future.
