Airlines for Europe opposed extending the EU ETS geographical scope, warning it would shift traffic and emissions to non-EU carriers and hubs, and urged ETS costs to be aligned with CORSIA via stronger SAF incentives1. A4E also sought targeted EU ETS amendments to enable purchase-based SAF claiming and book-and-claim, plus extended SAF allowances and flexibility mechanisms under ReFuelEU Aviation2 3. EBAA and GAMA previously advocated book-and-claim to overcome limited SAF availability for business aviation4.
