Dublin Airport Authority: Airports cannot execute a shift to pax self-connecting by themsleves

Dublin Airport Authority CO Kevin Toland, speaking at CAPA's Airlines in Transition Conference on 25/26-Mar-2015, stated (26-Mar-2015) airports cannot execute a shift to passenger self-connecting between services by themselves. Airports need to have the volume of connections to build the scale needed to sell the service proposition and the price proposition for passenger self-connecting. The interconnecting between short-haul LCCs and long-haul full-service carriers will likely continue to be the dominant trend.
