In July 2010, Royal Jordanian carried more than 330,000 passengers to its 58 direct destinations around the world, marking an increase of 14.6% over the same month in 2009 and a 7% growth above the target.

RJ president/CEO Hussein Dabbas said that the summer months are witnessing high demand on travel to all network sectors, being for the purpose of tourism or the increasing traffic of expatriates coming to visit their relatives in Jordan, in addition to the growing movement of students and businessmen.

He pointed out that the Arab Gulf and the Levant accounted for the largest share of passenger traffic during July, followed by Europe, North America and the Far East. Dabbas indicated that the seat factor went up by 5 points over the same month last year, and also increased by 2.3 points over the target to reach 79.3%.

This summer season, the oneworld carrier, Royal Jordanian, increased its flight frequencies to more than 110 daily to several destinations. Thus, the airline operated 3,538 departures in July 2010; a 9.1% growth over the comparison period.

The flying hours also rose to reach 10,257 hours, marking an increase of 8.6% compared to July 2009, leading to a rise of 4.5% in the total utilization of the fleet.

Dabbas stressed that August is also seeing a traffic growth, and is expected to remarkably develop in September, in light of the forthcoming Eid Al-Fiter and the students going back to school and colleges worldwide.
