NICON Group injects funds into Virgin Nigeria

05-May-2010 We are pleased to inform that NICON Group of Companies managed by Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim has injected funds into Virgin Nigeria as an investor.

The injection of funds into the airline is sequel to its acquisition by Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim and his emergence as the Chairman of Virgin Nigeria..

Virgin Nigeria is now undergoing management change and is preparing to implement a turn-around strategy that will ensure its fast and profitable growth.

As part of the change, Mr. Kinfe Fekadu Kahssaye is now the new Chief Executive Officer. Mr Kahssaye brings vast knowledge and experience of the aviation industry, including hands on experience in development and implementation of successful turn-around and transformational strategies from one the leading airlines in Africa.

He joined Ethiopian Airlines as a college trainee in 1987; and had worked with the Airline in various capacities for the last 22 years; including as a member of Ethiopian Airlines top Executive Management Team for the last 10 years. He holds Bsc. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Technology in Aerospace Engineering and MBA. He has extensively traveled, worked across cultures and attended various aviation related operational and leadership trainings and conferences.

He had held the position of Executive Vice President Strategic Business Units in Ethiopian Airlines before joining Virgin Nigeria as Chief Operating Officer on October 12, 2009. Until his present appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Nigeria, he had also functioned as the Chief Commercial Officer of Virgin Nigeria following the assigning of that portfolio to his role profile in January 2010.

Mr. Kahssaye is married with six children.
