VIVA Macau to challenge sub-concession agreement termination

Direct News Source

01-Apr-2010 VIVA Macau Airlines was shocked and surprised to discover that the recent, unprecedented revocation of our AOC may be legally invalid.

We demand the rapid reinstatement of our AOC so that we can continue our mission to "bring the world to Macau."

Viva Macau received a letter from Air Macau dated March 31st 2010. The letter says that the Board of Air Macau has decided to terminate the Sub-concession Contract without further delay and that Air Macau by the said letter rescinds, with cause, the Sub-Concession Contract executed between the two companies on 31 March 2006. If these statements are to be heeded, they mean that after all, the Civil Aviation Authority had no grounds to revoke Viva Macau's AOC when it did so last Sunday, 28 March. The revocation of VIVA Macau's AOC has caused severe disruption and inconvenience to our local and international passengers on all Viva Macau flights on our routes connecting Macau to Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia and Australia and affected the image and tourism of Macau.

VIVA Macau shareholders and management reiterate that Viva Macau is ready to resume service with our reinstated AOC.

We have responsible shareholders, superb management, and a team that operates at the highest international standards. We are proud of Macau as our home and all we want is to reinstate our AOC and continue our mission in "Bringing the World to Macau", and continuing to contribute to Macau economic diversification and tourism growth.
