Finavia becomes corporation on 1 January 2010

01-Dec-2009 Finavia Corporation will continue the operations of the Finavia as a company owned fully by the State of Finland. Finavia Corporation is a service company that maintains a network of 25 airports in Finland and the air navigation system covering the entire country.

"This transformation into a company will provide Finavia with new possibilities to maintain and develop the 25 airports in Finland and to create connections with the rest of the world. After a period of 19 years as a state enterprise, we will continue to serve air travellers and airlines as well as Finnish business and military aviation as Finavia Corporation," says Samuli Haapasalo, President and CEO.

Finavia Corporation is a company fully owned by the State, in which the State has a strategic ownership interest. The company's objective is to continue to maintain Finnish air traffic and the country's airport network based on the existing demand. Finavia's ownership steering lies with the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Finavia's existing personnel will be transferred to the new company as 'old employees'. The transition to a company will have no impact on the number of personnel, conditions of employment or work tasks.
