23-Dec-2009 SAS will launch four new routes during 2010, whilst adding frequencies on three routes.

The new routes are to Lyon (France), Vilnius (Lithuania), Bardufoss (Norway) and Visby (Sweden).

"It is time for SAS to expand again. During 2009 we cut capacity to adjust our offerings to the lowered demand in the market, but now we are pleased to once again open up new routes and offer our customers even more destinations and frequencies. No other airline in Northern Europe can compete with our extensive network and attractive schedules," says Lars Sandahl Sørensen, Chief Commercial Officer, SAS Scandinavian Airlines.

The Vilnius flights will commence January 11 and be operated twice daily via Copenhagen, whilst Lyon, which will commence April 6, and Visby are daily flights, and Bardufoss six times weekly. Both Bardufoss and Visby are seasonal routes, with Bardufoss via Oslo operated between May 31 to August 29, and Visby via Stockholm between June 6 and September 5. Both seasonal routes are due to return for the summer program 2011.

Besides the new routes, a number of existing routes gets added frequencies. As of February 1, there will 13 daily flights between both Copenhagen and Stockholm (now 12 daily) and Copenhagen and Oslo (now 12 daily). As of April 6, one daily frequency between Copenhagen and Brussels will be added, totaling five per day, and Copenhagen-Bologna becomes double daily.
