AirAsia increases frequency to Hong Kong
02-Dec-2009 AirAsia, Asia’s biggest low-cost carrier and recently awarded the coveted “Best Airline of the year 2009” by CAPA, announces today that it will increase its Kuala Lumpur – Hong Kong flights to 3rd daily frequency.
AirAsia which is currently offering 2 daily direct flights to Hong Kong from Kuala Lumpur is introducing the new frequency to meet the emerging demands and encouraging load factors from the ASEAN region and beyond. The 3rd daily flight will commence on 21st January 2010.
To celebrate the additional flights, AirAsia will be introducing all-in-fares from as low as RM129* (HKD398) from Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong, booking starts from 3rd to 7th December 2009 for the travel period from 21st January to 30th October 2010. AirAsia's first connection to Hong Kong was from Kuala Lumpur hub. Following its successful launch last year, AirAsia continued to boost its international connectivity to Hong Kong by launching more new destinations from its hubs which include Penang (4 flights weekly) as well as the Thai cities of Bangkok (2 flights daily) and Phuket (1 flight daily). These bring AirAsia's total number of weekly flights to and from Hong Kong to 46.
The overwhelming demand from travelers to and from Hong Kong has grown tremendously not only from holidaymakers but also from those with business ventures around the region since the launch of Hong Kong from the various AirAsia hubs for the past 2 years. The demand for the existing routes made it very clear for the need to introduce additional flights. Short after the first launch, we've added the 2nd daily flight in August 2008 and subsequently the 3rd daily frequency in the first quarter of 2010. The mounting of frequency is a testament to AirAsia's commitment of making travel accessible and affordable to all. It will also provide both business and leisure travelers with more flexibility and greater choice to connect onto AirAsia and AirAsia X's extensive route network across ASEAN countries."
