Air India resumes long haul flights

30-Sep-2009 Air India will be operating all long haul flights barring NONSTOP flights tomorrow (1st October 2009).

Flights being operated include: AI 127 on the Delhi / Frankfurt / Chicago sector, AI 191 on the Mumbai / Frankfurt / Newark sector, AI 131 on the Mumbai / London sector, AI 111 on the Delhi / London sector, AI 187 on the Amritsar / London / Toronto sector and AI 121 on the Ahmedabad / Frankfurt sector. The effective date of resumption of NONSTOP flights to New York from Delhi and Mumbai will be taken once executive pilots, who have reported sick in the past few days, start reporting fit for duty.

As regards domestic operations, Air India has drawn up a flight restoration plan viz., ensuring normal operations on trunk routes with immediate effect and major & other routes being restored at the earliest, keeping in view that tomorrow will mark the beginning of a long weekend.

Meanwhile, Air India cancelled 111 flights in advance today, due to non availability of pilots, so that passengers were not inconvenienced. The flights will be gradually reinstated.
