03-Sep-2009 North European ANS Providers (NEAP) will submit a proposition concerning the North European Functional Airspace Block (NEFAB) during 2010.

The progress and schedule of establishing a FAB was one of the main topics at the annual strategic meeting of the CEOs of NEAP member organisations in Porvoo (Finland) on 29 August.

After the submission of the proposition for a North European FAB, the national authorities will initiate the state level processes to get the FAB declared and implemented. All FABs within the Single European Sky (SES) legislation should be in place by the end of 2012.

"Extensive collaboration among the ANS providers and harmonising the services are essential elements in producing more customer oriented and efficient services," says Anne Ilola, chairman of the NEAP Strategic Committee for the past year and Director of Finavia's Air Navigation Services. The CEOs agreed at the meeting that NEAP will establish representation in Brussels in order to strengthen external activities. The chairmanship of NEAP Strategy Committee was handed to Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) for 2009-2010.
